In a recent survey of 528 woman at a gynaecological clinic, 517 (98%) would not sit directly on the toilet seat in a public convenience. A public convenience included schools, offices, shopping centers, hospitals and public toilets in hotels and other leisure establishments.
Toilet seats in these establishments are not cleaned after each use and people are not prepared to sit on the seat because they feel it is unhygienic.
